The broadband connections in India are a bit different to the rest of the world and I've heard that there are extra steps required to get these to work in Ubuntu. In most of the world, you should be able to connect to the internet immediately after plugging in the Ethernet cable (or use wifi). Adobe has not rewritten their software for Linux yet. I imagine if you've got Pagemaker you are a professional typesetter or something like that - Ubuntu does not have the software that a typesetter needs for their work. Instead of Photoshop, you can use The Gimp - it's available in Ubuntu Software Center. There may be astrology software available in Ubuntu - I don't know for sure, but you could try looking in Ubuntu Software Center or on the internet. Ubuntu comes with Libreoffice and a PDF reading program. You can't use Windows software on Ubuntu.
